The Role of Hemoglobin in the Respiratory System
Hemoglobin is a protein molecule found in red blood cells, they are Globular proteins. Hemoglobin is made up of four polypeptide units that are linked together. Hemoglobin is important in aiding Oxygen transport. It's job is to transport Oxygen rich blood from the lungs through the left side of the heart and towards the tissues. After delivering the oxygen rich blood to the tissues, the hemoglobin then transports the now oxygen poor blood back towards the right side of the heart and back to the lungs.
